About Body Inc

Body Inc Today.

For it’s first three years Body Inc had enjoyed the partnership of its spas with the launch of the Virgin Credit Card and Virgin Blue' Blue Room Lounges, which had become strategic alliances and fast tracked Body Inc’s brand awareness.

Five years later Body Inc is recognized as a brand in its own right with its own loyalty programme the Frequent Indulger and its own space at Sydney Domestic Terminal. Body Inc now franchises and is firmly established through selecting projects and partners.

One of our proudest achievement to date was being chosen to participate at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Body Inc built and ran a fully operational Day Spa at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village for the 25 days of competition for the 8000 athletes. This was a first, both at Olympic and Commonwealth Level.

Why Body Inc you ask? We are different in that we do not take ourselves too seriously. With a fresh and crisp approach to develop marketing strategies and synergies with partnership hotels, restaurants and airlines, makes Body Inc a value add and point of difference to many businesses.

Body Inc now runs the largest bathhouse and spa in Australia in Potts Point Sydney, formerly, the Korean Ginseng Bathhouse. Having been established for over 15years and serving over 2million guests, this landmark spa was in need of an extreme make over and some TLC (www.ginsengbathhouse.com.au)

Body Inc was called to undertake this mammoth challenge. Now with over 1500sqm, 40 beds, 7 spas, Steam & Sauna, Couples & VIP Rooms, Hair Studio, Yoga Room and Now & Zen lounge, Body Inc has reincarnated the Bathhouse to exceed the expectations of it’s loyal patrons, whilst still maintaining the traditional Asian treatments.

The company is now structured with senior executives, professionals from a diverse range of industry either on the board or advising the board for Body Inc’s continued growth both in Australia and overseas.

The Body Inc Story

In 2001, Michael had recently returned to Australia from an extensive overseas trip and had semi-retired from his hospitality agency after the Sydney Olympics. He found his one and true love in Sydney, his soon to be wife, Esther, moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland, married and began to plan for a family. However, they did not plan for Michael to have a surfing accident, which ruptured 2 lower discs and required extensive treatment. During the course of his recovery, he sought regular massage treatments. It was not long before his pain led to frustration with not being able to receive a reliable massage service.

If the therapist turned up at all, they turned up late. They would answer their mobile phone during treatments and short change him on time by always finishing early. If they did not smell of body odour or cigarette breath, they looked like they should smell. All in all, compared to the hospitality industry, this was way below the standard of customer service that his hotel clients would normally accept. What made things worse, the prices he was paying for the 2 hour massage was the same as a night stay in a 4 star hotel.

Michael vented his frustration to the hotel General Manager at the time who explained, it was just the nature of that industry; very hit and miss, as it was predominantly small businesses run by therapists. To receive a decent service, Michael decided he should start his own massage business. They contracted two therapists, designed a uniform, brochures and signage for a $10,000.00 investment and promoted the services to guests by the hotel pool. It proved to be very popular, showing the hotel 1000% increase in previous massage revenue in its first week. The penny dropped and Body Inc was soon formed. Within 3 months, Michael had signed up spas for Virgin Blue in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, partnered with Virgin Credit Card and opened 3 more spas.

Body Inc had arrived and in no small way.
